Medical Office Building
- Pearland, Texas
- 60,000 GSF
Courtney Harper & Partners was responsible for programming, planning and schematic design for the new construction of a three-story, 60,000 GSF medical office building located in an edge community of Houston, Texas.
The building site is bordered on one side by a heavily trafficked vehicular highway. The building is oriented to provide maximum visibility from the highway with the owner’s signature building element of a glazed multistory half circle prominently placed. Visitors enter the building through the half circle and under a porte cochere.
A light-filled mall-like atmosphere is created with waiting areas, retail pharmacy, patient education areas, and public circulation routes including a monumental stair located adjacent to the 3-story front curtainwall.
Clinics include Primary Care, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Internal Medicine, Orthopedics, Diagnostic Center including Radiology, Pediatrics, and Specialty Clinics. The planning ratio of one physician to three exam rooms is reflected in the floor plans. Flexibility for type of care within treatment pods was considered. Mirroring the east-west primary patient circulation is staff circulation with a convenience stair linking each floor.
